Audio Speed Changer

The online audio speed changer tool changes the playback speed (tempo) and key (pitch) of music independently. The tool is ideal for changing the playback speed and/or key for song transcriptions, instrumental training (piano, guitar, violine, flute, ...), vocal training, but also for language learning.

The conversion process involves four steps:

Step 1: Select song

Select a local music file, a file from a website, or a file from OneDrive or DropBox. The converter supports a wide range of input media formats, such as mp3, aac, mp4, wav, flac, ogg, m4a, avi, and many more.

Step 2: Speed and pitch

Select the playback speed change and the pitch change.

A value smaller than zero means that the resulting key is lower than the original key (and vice-versa). A value of zero means that the key is not changed. One full step corresponds to one semitone. Decimals can be used for fine adjustments (for instance for non-western music styles). Example: a change of -12 semitones means that the song is played one octave lower.

A value smaller than 100% means that the speed is reduced while a value greater than 100% means that the playback speed is increased. A value of 100% means that the speed is not changed. Example: a change of 50% means that the playback speed is slowed down to half as fast as the original. A change of 200% means the playback speed is twice as fast as the original.

Step 3: Output options

Select the output format and processing method.

Two different algorithms are provided (one time-based and one frequency-based). Depending on the input music one or the other algorithm produces better results but it cannot be generally said that one algorithm is better than the other. If the resulting audio sounds distorted then try the other algorithm.

Step 4: Convert
